John (during the royal variety show): During the next number i need to ask for your help.......the people in the cheap seats clap your hands, and the rest of you just rattle your jewellery. 

John: Lots of people who have complained about us receiving the MBE received theirs for heroism in the war-for killing people. We received ours for entertaining other people. I'd say we deserve ours more. Wouldn't You?

The Beatles have settled a £30 million row over royalty payments with EMI, clearing the final obstacle to the release of the band's entire back catalogue over the internet. 

Executives at the group's company Apple Corps Ltd and EMI can now sit down and work out a new royalties deal to cover music downloads of their many hit singles and albums by websites like iTunes
